Artist's Comments

Second night visiting this tree; compared to my previous visit it was exceptionally clear with tonnes of stars!

Im not happy with the light pollution at the base of the image however there is not much i can do about this. There were also the trails of cars on the far right as the subject was quite close to a fairly busy road, however these were cloned out.

I again used my wide angle.

Amazing! How long was the exposure?

gosh this was taken a year ago so i can't really remember. I imagine it was single 2 - 3 minute exposures for just over an hour.

you take multiple exposures of the same shot which captures the stars in different positions as the track around the sky. You then simply blend the layers in Photoshop. You can do it in a single exposure but it only really works with film cameras as digital slr's are easily susceptible to noice over long exposures.

ic ic thanks. maybe i'l try that sometime when the sky clears here. been rainy past few days
